I have a Sony DRX-510UL (external firewire) and am having problems with the firewire connection to my DP 867.
Before I connect the drive system profiler reports nothing, just the bus.
After plugging in the drive and powering on, system profiler reports "No information found." for the firewire bus.
I know the drive is fine since it shows up when connected using USB (its highlighted)
I also know the firewire is fine, since I use this burner on my Windows box through firewire.
I am running Panther 10.3.1 and wondered if anyone has seen this problem before or had any suggestions why this doesn't work (USB is painfully slow when burning DVDs). Unfortunately, I do not have another firewire device to try out on my mac, but i am thinking there may be a problem with the firewire ports. Figures, since my opportunity to get Applecare just passed.
Any advice is appreciated and yes I have checked XLR8 for drive compatibility and people have reported no problems like this.
Also, I was considering getting a USB2.0/FW800 card for my mac...any suggestions?
