I just finished a hard-drive swap between my 2010 mac mini and my 2011 macbook pro. The mini ran Mavericks and the MB ran Yosemite. I did time machine back-ups on both machines (on the same harddrive) after switching the drives my mini drive ended up in the MB and vice versa I was going to import the old backups from the computers but the only option I get within time machine is for the "old" computer that the disk was attatched to.

Do I have to do clean installs on both computers to be able to restore them correctly with time machine or is there a way where I can get around this without having to do clean installs?

Found the correct settings for it. Just restoring the two back-ups right now. I really love OSX and Time Machine. Stuff like this was always a ******** mess with Windows!
