Hi there,

I am new here and i have to say desperate. I need to do a system restore from time machine but the mac doesn't see the time machine back ups. I have tried to repair disk and all was ok.

Whats next, i am crapping myself :(

My reply won't help you _this time_.

But NEXT time, DON'T use Time Machine as your backup system.

Instead, use either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.

If you had used either of them, you would have created a bootable backup in POFF ("plain ol' finder format). You could just reach for your backup, boot from it, and then either
- just find the files you needed, or
- used your repair tools on the main drive, or
- restored to the main drive
.... and you could keep right on going.

Yours is one of many (yes, many) postings I've seen here on MR from users who think they have a "good Time Machine backup" -- and then, in a moment of extreme need, find that IT DOESN'T WORK.

I hope you get your stuff back.

And when you do, next time, DON'T use TM -- use either CCC or SD instead!
