Help with Time Machine after HD clone

I experienced a large enough problem that it was easier to revert to a clone of my HD than try and recover everything via Time Machine.

Problem is, this clone was 1 week old. Now Time Machine thinks that its database is gone and wants to try and build a new one in the same spot. I'd rather not delete the old one and start from scratch, but I can't seem to get TM to recognize it is there.

Any suggestions on how to achieve this?
