Hello,
I have a Canon HF10 and a Matthews M25 tripod system. The issue I am having is that I think the Canon HF10 might be too light for the head on the M25 and it is causing me to make accidental rough movements when panning.

Could it be that the HF10 is too light for the M25 or do I have a crappy tripod head?

The Mathews M25 Tripod is a tripod system for mid-sized camcorders up to 15 lbs. It features lightweight portability and a camera plate with long travel. This kit comes with a tripod and head combo and a carry case. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/502679-REG/Matthews_M25_M25_Tripod_System.html

Excellent tripod for light cameras and future proof with prosumer cameras!

Wonderful tripod

EDIT: Note to self always read the post first!
You could buy an extra plate to weigh it down but its probably just a case of lowering the pan/tilt handles angle so that it isn't pulled upon.

Can you recommend me a new tripod system for my Canon HF10? I have about $350 to spend.

There's nothing wrong with the tripod itself; I would would keep the legs themselves and invest in a better head, like a Bogen/Manfrotto. This one would probably do the job pretty well, provided the threading is the same (I can't seem to find threading specifications for the stock head).
