I'm in Japan and found a $200 tuner but I need the rest of the system i.e. software and hard disk.

I'm assuming I can use El Gato software with any tuner?

I have a couple of external 2TB HDs but I'm getting so sick of all the cables I have. Is there any wireless solution besides expensive Time Machine drives?

What if I bought a Mac Mini to store all the data? What about ATV2 / Mini options?

What are the best tuners? Should I buy any 1080p tuner I can find here since a tuner is simply capturing the signal? OR should I order a tuner that is popular with Mac users i.e. El Gato?

If my software doesn't match my local listings in Japan how would I set timers for recording shows when I'm not there?

ALSO...If I bought EyeTV Netstream DTT tuner just to capture the channels would it matter if the Elgato software doesn't have the corresponding channels in the software? You can still change channels right? But I guess I wouldn't be able to time record any shows if I'm out.
