I'm having a lot of trouble getting mine to work, could you explain what process you went through?

yes sure i used these links and youtube videos

sites in order:

1) I updated/restored to 4.2.1 and jailbroke using these directions, except i used 0.9.6 b6 instead of b5 but i don't think it matters

http://www.maggadget.com/guide-how-...-1-on-iphone-3g-and-iphone-3gs-using-redsn0w/

2) Then I deactivated with the same 0.9.6 b6 and selected deactivate

http://www.jailbreakguides.com/foru...-fix-push-notifications-and-battery-drainage/

3) and then i unlocked from the directions at the bottom of this link (same link as number 1)

http://www.maggadget.com/guide-how-...-1-on-iphone-3g-and-iphone-3gs-using-redsn0w/

BTW i don't think it matters if you did 2 or 3 first.

I also checked youtube videos to make sure.

1) to update/restore/jailbreak

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-h597PR_KI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0ORBbcQsE4

2) to deactivate with SAM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hpfu_lyJAN0

3) to unlock

Windows version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOIpwIzimw4&feature=channel

Macversion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP6smWHvtq8&feature=channel

BTW i used these with windows 7

It sounded like the SAM author already assumed that phones would have been unlocked via ultrasnow, and so he scripted his thing to be done after a phone had already been ultrasnowed. And doing it all in that order - pwnage, ultrasn0w, SAM - worked for me.

You guys seem to be doing it 1-3-2, not 1-2-3.

Yeah I was also wondering what order I should do first too but I saw some people commenting on youtube and other sites that doing SAM after ultras 0w still didn't fix their battery and on the website I used it said to do after. I think he also assumed that anyone with hacktivated phone on old versions can just restore. I did it 1-2-3 / redsnow,Ultrasnow, and SAM and that worked for me too. It works either way.
