I just moved from California (USA) to Ottawa (Canada). Everyone here in Canada keeps telling me to just "unlock" or "jailbreak" my iPhones to work in Canada. I tried searching around previous posts to get help with my question but I am still not completely clear on how to unlock my iPhone.

Basically, I am trying to figure out how to unlock my original iPhone (4GB model) and my wife's iPhone 3GS (16 GB model) to work on a Canadian carrier. Can someone point me to a tutorial or give me a rundown of this process?

Through my research I found a website www.easy-iphone-unlocking.com and was going to pay to get software to do this but wanted to ask here first in case I am just throwing money away on something that is free.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Michael
