So I received a new phone from apple after my previous one had stopped working. I backed it up the day before, and it was running 5.0.1.

This phone is running on 4.3, so I would need to set it up as new and update it before I can restore from my backup. What I was wondering is that, since I want to jailbreak it, if I should update it or keep it as is and find another way to restore the backup. Basically, I'd like to know if 5.0.1 can be jailbroken (preferably redsnow or something). I'd find out myself but I don't really know where to look and I need info I can trust.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Keep it as is and you will have an untethered jailbreak. Once untethered 5.0.1 jailbreak comes out, then you can update to that firmware.

Thanks for replying

So I would have to wait for 5.0.1 untethered to restore my backup?
