Hello, I just bought the mac pro nehalem quad with 3gb of Ram.

My goal is to upgrade to 12 gb with 3 4gb modules.

I am so confused as to which ram to choose.

Buffered or unbuffered?

Crucial's ram for this model is unbuffered.
OWC's ram is buffered! (good price BTW)
Hypervelocity –Is that any good by the way?– is unbuffered.

Which one do I choose?

Thanks!!

OWC's is Unbuffered. Apple only support Unbuffered ECC memory on the Mac Pro. Buffered memory is called Registered memory. Most people seem to choose OWC.

The new mac Pros (nehalem) support bothe registered and unbuffered memory. That's what an Apple representative told me.
