I've searched and have found numerous issues with Verizon and Mail not wanting to work together. However, most seem to be about POP and Verizon mail.
I'm using IMAP and an email account through gmail. i've had the settings the same way for the last few years and have never had problems sending or receiving until i signed up with Verizon's horrible service.
Last night I was on the phone for an hour and a half with a rep trying to figure out the problem. No luck. I am hoping the mac community will have better luck. the latest changes we made were to create a new outgoing server 'outgoing.verizon.net' we changed the ports, created a password, etc to try all of those fixes as well and we couldn't come up with a solution.
