So first I want to say that I have shadowed on here for about the past year and I have got to say this place is so informative and so helpful! It was a lot of the discussions on here that led me to finally switching from a PC user to a Mac. This was hard, I was a "hardcore" PC user since dos. I can remember being so excited when I got windows 3.1 on my computer.

Anyways.....

So I have a 13 inch MBP that I bought for school. I am going to be at school a lot and using my laptop a lot. Some days I am at school for up to 10 hours. The old department where I got my first degree had wifi all through the building. However, this building only has wireless on the second floor. I cannot access the wireless from the student lounge. The second floor is pretty much all offices so I can't just go up there and sit outside an office door. Now I have asked around and accessing this network is fine, its just restricted to the 2nd floor due to bandwidth concerns for the school.

I have to have internet access at school and going to another building is not really an option because of the distance I would have to travel. So my question is what is my best bet for internet access? I would be primarily for email and very light web browsing like looking up medical terminology and surgical procedures.

I was thinking either this

(I know it is expensive but I think for what I need it for it would suffice.)

or a wireless antenna that could pick up the signal through the ceiling of the first floor.

What do you guys think is the best?

Thanks...
