Hello,
I have the 2008 model of the xserve and after some very good days setting up and using a pci-e raid card to boot that has 6gb/s capability and is bootable (ASM 1061) I have a teeny problem, well, actually a BIG one. Now Every time I connect power, it boots automatically, but the system id light is constantly yellow, not flashing. There is no documentation on it constantly being on, only off and blinking. It shows no video from the Radeon X1300 and have tried EVERYTHING (power off, nvram reset, smc, pressing all the buttons on the logic board for reset, 4 are together and one is on the side) and the same. Could it be a bad psu? I have two installed, but I only use one. I have tried all combos, and even hooked up both to a/c at the same time, nothing. I think it might help if someon could tell me what each button does (the main 4 buttons ARE labeled, smc, power, which on pressing lights two red lights, and sys reset) but the lone separated one (near the cmos battery) does not have a description, so it would help knowing. This is a used server ebayed with two 3.0Ghz xeon quad, and 8gb of memory in 4x2gb. Also have tried removing the ASM 1061 from pci-e and tried changing it's slot, no change. Also have pc gpu's, I have tried a radeon 5570, 6570, and nvidia gt 240, nothing changes (even after waiting for os to boot up blindly) Please I dearly request help, and hope I have provided enough information.
