my MacBook Air's power is on but the brightness is off. And I can't use the F2 and F3 buttons to adjust it because I'm not signed into my account thing when you open your mac. What should I do?

You should be able to adjust the brightness from the login screen. This sounds more like your backlight is broken.

The computer is definitely on, is it? Keyboard backlight comes on, startup chime happens? Little pips when you adjust the volume?

Shine a torch at the screen (this is quite awkward, you may have to get very close and peer) to try and see what is happening. See if you can see the computer responding to you pressing the brightness keys.

I would recommend that, when you have a moment, the thread title be edited to be less ambiguous. I feel it should contain information that will help readers of these forums to better understand the topic of the thread.
