Good afternoon forum,

I have some issues that I really hope someone can help with, I have today turned on my PB and after n hour or so just froze, no keys, no short cuts - nothing worked. The only way I could re-boot was to cut the power.

On re-booting I have the following problems:

1. Default settings had been re-set (all icon sizes, position of the dock, desktop pictures were as they are when a machine is first bought.
2. When I go o open Entourage I get this message 'Cannot open - no such disk', this is very worrying as I've been away for a month on business, got back today and downloaded my emails, nothing has been backed up for a month and I'm petrified I've lost everything!!
3. All Safari bookmarks have disappeared.

At the moment the above is all I have found, I'm a little worried about delving deeper and opening anything in case I lose data, the only area that does seem fine are all the applications (except Entourage).

If anyone could tell me why this may have happened in the first place and how I can get my original settings back it would be greatly appreciated.

I know a lot about Macs but I'm not good at understanding the techy speech so if you could explain things simply that would be great

Thank you.
