Hi, I'm trying to help a friend with establishing a connection to an Airport Express station. He wanted to be sure Airport wireless would work with his Apple at his house. He has a Motorola Surfboard 4200 Cable modem already attached to his PC via USB, and he wants to extend connection wirelessly to his iBook. I tried just connecting the USB from the modem to an Aiport Express and it doesn't work. I tried via ethernet and that didn't work. My question is, does the Airport express work as a router as well? Because if not, I guess thats what the problem is.

It works, but you have to use the Airport utility and set it up as that.

The USB port won't work, you will have to use the ethernet port. Then launch the Airport Setup Assistant first...Airport Admin Utility is for more advanced settings should you need it. PS - a lot of this information is located in OS X Help system.
