Following a quiet start to 2026, the final week of January has been a busy one for Apple so far. There are new versions of the AirTag and the Black Unity band for the Apple Watch, and the Apple Creator Studio bundle is now available.

Apple also released iOS 26.2.1 and watchOS 26.2.1 updates, and iOS 26.3 beta testing continues.

While the launch of Apple Creator Studio would have been a fitting opportunity for Apple to unveil new MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, unfortunately it looks like that proved to be nothing more than wishful thinking.

We have recapped our coverage of everything new below.

It is interesting all of the rumors where pointing to a launch this week with the release of the Studio suite, even some hardware items are over a month out. Yet some MBP inventory is available and even within 1-2 weeks. Mark G was even less specific on release schedules. Just goes to show you that only Apple knows the release plans.

Where's the one more thing of M5 Pro MBP?? I gave my old one to my kid and I'm having to use a PoC Windows laptop from work. Not shade, it really is a PoC laptop. I based all my plans on unfounded speculation and rumor and now feel utterly betrayed.

Do you really expect the M5 to be that much of a difference than the M4?

I clearly needed the extra power of the M5 to check my email. No not really is the answer. The lead times on the M4 MBP is now 2-3 weeks. I'm running an m4 pro Mac mini as my desktop machine and I have only ever pushed its capability running local LLM's and rendering big scenes in blender. To be honest if that's what I'm doing I'm already having a good day :)

It does get dedicated matmul cores, which is why I'm waiting for it instead of getting an M4 Max. But that's a pretty niche use case. For non power users, it's probably not a groundbreaking change.

Wondering if there won't be any hardware updates for the Apple TV and the Homepods until Apple releases the updated Siri. I'm guessing a new Siri would be a big new feature for those devices and would probably require a new chip for Apple Intelligence like the latest iPhones.

Our beloved Steve is dead. No more 'one more thing' excitment.

I just opened Pages and got a message box saying that my version (which was the latest until this week) will no longer be supported. That was a surprise. It suggested I update to the new version of Pages. But that version states "in app purchases". So is Pages still free and fully functional or has it been crippled unless you pay for the creator bundle? I use Pages all the time and I'd hate to lose it. But I also don't want to shell out all that money every year for it.

Was expecting to see the new MacBooks. Don't know when Apple is planning on launching these. AirTag update was a small one but longer precision finding range is a nice feature.
