Most people who order at the 8 and X at launch day are Apple fans.

Most people who update there phone contract will probably go for the 8 so over the course of the next 12 months the 8 will probably sell better.

That price tag and lack of availabliy will mean it stays a niche product. It may sell out at first as Apple fans order it but I bet come say spring 2018 they won't be shifting many of them.
