Never quite sure
I've just discovered that the .mov files I've been recording on my iPhone 8 are not viewable on macOS Sierra or El Cap. I don't intend to upgrade to High Sierra in the short-term, and one computer cannot upgrade past EL Cap anyway.

I use Dropbox to keep my photos/videos in sync and backed up using Camera uploads either from the iOS app or by plugging in to the computer (more usual).

As far as I can tell, HEIF photos are being converted to readable .jpg for macOS during import (good!).

But, the HVEC videos are all in a .mov format that is unreadable to macOS.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed? I want to continue to use the Camera Uploads feature of Dropbox, but I want to be able to view my videos - obviously!

Interestingly, the videos are readable using the Dropbox web client.
