I know that you all you have to do is plug in the keyboard with a usb chord, I've tried this and the keyboard only plays for a few notes then cuts out. The keyboard doesn't lose power and if I turn it on and off again it will repeat the same process. Any ideas?

Hmmm. Is it new? If so, just call or take it back to the retailer for help or troubleshooting.
You can try using another usb, I have had them be kinda goofy before. Can still be the cord even though it appears to be powered. Try swapping with another if you have one handy.
Sorry, this is all I can suggest. I have a few M-audio controllers and no issues to note...other than assigning the knobs and such is a no go in GB.

Might also try the Audio section on here,.
Good luck.
