If I am in a car full of people and they all have iPhones and I say "Hey Siri", who's iPhone answers?
(Assuming they would all be on the newest update that does not require being plugged in)
And which update/version is that?
Was about to asking the same question - there is no such update where 'Hey Siri' works without the iPhone being plugged in.
Well that's going to be weird. All of them.
I've done similar at night, not realize my wife had already plugged hers in as well, and both her phone and mine responded to me.
There likely won't be an update like that until there's new hardware that would allow to support that without additional/extra noticeable battery drain. In which case there might be some improvements added to that feature such as being able to customize it to something other than just "Hey Siri" and/or being able to distinguish voices to one degree or another so that it mainly would only respond to you and not just random people (or a TV or something). There will be.

Thanks for the response!
"Hey Siri" without being plugged in will only work when the iPhone is in Carplay mode. Until now you need to plug the iPhone in order to use Carplay.
On a different note, if you want to use Hey Siri without being plugged in, in normal mode, you have to let the Siri interface stay onscreen. That way it's always listening.
