How the heck do I get "Hey Siri" to activate when a device is not plugged in? I currently have an iPhone 6plus and and iPad Air2 both with Siri activated and neither one will wake when I use "Hey Siri".

Reason important is I want to control Philips Hue lighting.

Doesn't work without being plugged in. You'll need an SE, or a 6S or newer or an iPad Pro.

Unfortunately you cannot. Because your devices lack the coprocessor to use Siri always on. Hey Siri was implemented with the M9 coprocessor on the 6S to be hands free without being connected to the charger.

Also, Hey Siri hands free will not function if Low power mode is activated.
