HF100 imovie or Final Cut Express

I just got the Canon HF100. I wanted to know if I should get Final Cut Express 4.0? Price isn't that big of an issue because it's only $70 from my schools bookstore. I'm planning on getting a new imac.
I wanted to also know if i upload and edit a movie will Toast 9.0 be able to burn the video I just made to a regular disc, but play HD with my PS3? .
also i wanted to know a good mac compatible card reader,

and an external hard drive that I could use to share files between my dell and a new imac, as well as store videos from my camcorder that would be easily accessed by both computers?

Hello,

I bought a HF100 camcorder couple of days ago, and I installed the software that came with it ... every time I'm trying to open it it freezes on me !! Then I decided to import the movies to iMovie, but as soon as I connect the camera to my mac, iMovie crashes too. does anybody know why this is happening? It's working fine with my macbook pro though.
