when i am using hfs explore on vista it allows me to read the files but it seems it gets errors on large files anyone know of a better program ?? or is the problem just me??

What file system are you running on Vista? NTFS or FAT32?

If it's FAT32, that would make sense because it can't handle that many large files.

FAT32 isn't supported for the boot/system partition on Vista and later OSs

I wasn't quite sure. I've read that Vista can run on FAT32...

Anyways, disregard my previous post, I apparently was talking out of thin air.

the first time i used fat 32 so im pretty sure it will work haha but anything larger than a 4 gig file is a no no so thats out.

HFS Explorer as an app is fantastic. One thing you might have to run it in admin. mode to work properly.

As far as the formatting problems, I've always used NTFS (you have to be if you're running Vista, as starting with Vista all future Microsoft OS's no longer give the FAT32 option). My 500GB external HDD is formatted NFS+. HFS Explorer never had an issue getting files off it.
