hi, I got the Canon HG20 camera and I want to get a decent mic for it. The only problem is that it uses a mini advanced shoe instead of a standard one so most mics wont fit. I was wondering if there was any mics that could fit with this camera or if there was a work around to this problem, thank you!

so their are "hot" shoes and "cold" shoes. I also have this issue with my HG20. google mini-advanced shoe to advanced shoe adapter. what you will get is a "cold" shoe, which means it will have no power. but if you get a Rode Videomic, it runs off a 9V battery and its a damn good mic

There should be adapters. Search until you find one, then buy a good mic like the Rode VideoMic.

An alternative to an adapter is to use a photographer's flash bracket, which screws into the tripod mount and provides a cold shoe fitting.
