Hi folks,

I've held back on upgrading to Mavericks thanks to my old WD MyBook Studio Edition II making me nervous after the problems it had with Lion, so I'm looking at switching to a different drive for Time Machine and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the HGST 4TB Touro DX3?

I know it's not the quickest but it will be purely for backup purposes and I've got TM scheduled to do all of that in the middle of the night anyway.

Any advice would be excellent.

Cheers,
Rab

I picked up three of these about six months ago when BH was having a sale. They have been solid, quiet, cool running. Kinda slow to spin up, but thats not unexpected. I use one for my iTune video library and they others for backup storage.

Sounds good. Are the backup disks both being used with TM?

One is a timemachine destination that is hanging off a Time Capsule. The other is a CCC clone destination for my working media drive. I do use another "slow" seagate consumer drive directly attached to one desktop for its local TM backup destination.
