Hi All
I just up-graded the operating system with Apples help on my 13"Mac Book-Pro to El-Capitan 10.11.6 I am reloding all the data now. But do not want to relode the complete e-mail contents. How can I sort what I want? I am loading from my time machine back up drive. Thank in advance.

No easy way I know of.

All modern email clients are data bases. You have to import the data set (your mail), and then edit it....or edit it and then delete it. There may be a paid 3rd party tool....but honestly, unless you already have it sorted, not sure what you would gain.

If you do have it sorted you could only grab the "folders" you want. Assuming it is Apple Mail, look:

Hard drive/Users/[your user account]/Library/Mail/V5/

Inside that you should see some long numbered folders....and inside those you should recognize the .mbox files that correspond to your mail folders.

Pieces and parts of a data base. The user interface to the data base is the mail client; best/easiest/least dangerous to use it to edit your database....of your mail.

Here's a good write up of related options and ideas.
