I have noticed that many of my apps have yet to be updated to support the retina display. This isn't a huge issue considering many of these apps are in folders, but I noticed something today.

While browsing the app store, I saw the Wall Street Journal app. The icon in the app store was hi res, but when I downloaded it, it was low res. Why do I not get the icon in the app store?

It seems App Store is pulling the icons from the 512x512 image that developers include. Previously, it used to pull up icon.png from the app.

Thank you.

That also must explain why some app icons look totally different in the app store than the ones that end up being on your home screen.
