Hi8 passthrough to a Sony DV camcorder - trouble importing!

Hey everyone -

I have a Hi8 sony camcorder that I'm connecting to my TRV30 digital camcorder with an S-Video cable. I'm trying to play the video on the Hi8 and have it pass through the TRV30 camcorder and record in real-time on my iMac on iMovie. I haven't been able to get it to work. Does anyone have any tips or know if what I am trying to do is possible?
