Hibernate on an iMac G3?

Does anyone know if it is possible to hibernate on an iMac G3?

On my MBP I can simply do sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 5 and close the lid. On the iMac G3 you can press the power button once and it does sleep, but pmset -a hibernatemode 5 has not effect.

Any idea?

you see, the hibernate is to save power, like a laptop when a battery is involved. On the little imac, it's a desktop where sleep is all you need. I have an imac g3 and i'm rather sure that you cant hibernate. Now, just for question, but what do you need 'hibernate' for that the 'sleep' function can't do?

Yea on other OS's it doesn't try to act like they know better than you, if you decided that you really want to hibernate even if it is a Desktop there is always a way to do it... like using a Terminal command.

I want to do it because this is a computer that is not used very often and I just don't like the blinking stand by light it makes.

And I also like to be able to plug the power source altogether.
