In Mountain Lion and earlier, there was a plist tweak that made dock icons transparent when the application was hidden. This doesn't seem to be possible with Mavericks. I loved this tweak and I am having a really hard time adjusting to Mavericks without it. Does anyone have any solution to this? In my eyes, it's really the only thing missing from Mavericks.

I'm not sure if its possible now. A lot of plist tweaks don't work anymore. Seems like Apple cleaned up a lot of extra code.

Sad because there were some really nice tidbits in that "extra code". I appreciate the reply. Do you know of any 3rd party apps that would replicate this type of functionality? I'd assume that'd probably come after launch if it was going to show up huh?

I would look out for the next version of Onyx (It hasn't come out for Mavericks yet). It's really good for these type of tweaks, and they may figure out a different way of doing it.

Yeah, I've been using that app for awhile. Can't wait for the update.

Thanks man!

The tweak still works btw. If you want you can also try using secrets which installs a preference pane and allows you to customise loads of stuff. Just click on dock in the list and check the "dim hidden apps", then relaunch the dock.
