I had a friend who was a guard on the railway who used the app to get pictures of people causing trouble on stations (assaults and vandalism), being seen to take a picture would leave him an immediate target, whereas a phone loosely held in his hand gave nothing away and didnt reveal the fact he was getting images to anyone around. Made identification of offenders easier and limited his chance of being attacked (unless they wanted his phone of course). The fact is, it does have its uses. The great thing about the iphone is that for most things there really is an app for it. As with anything though, there will always be apps that people never understand why they exist. not everyone appreciates 'pull my finger' or 'stethoscope', or many other apps, (especially those that only tweak something the phone already does).
