This evening I received a notification on my iPhone that my friend sent me an audio iMessage, but when I looked at our conversation, nothing was there. On my iPad, the same thing: It said audio message received, but there was nothing there. Both iPhone and iPad are on iOS/iPadOS 14.0.1.
I figured the audio file just didn't come through.
Hours later, I got to my Mac, and I saw the same thing in the Messages app: It showed audio message received, but nothing was visible. However, this time I noticed a blank space where the message would have been. I clicked in the space, and sure enough I was able to play this invisible audio message in QuickTime. Mac is on macOS 11.0 beta 9. Nothing ever showed up even after I was able to play the audio.
Has any encountered this before? I found no option to send audio as invisible ink. If it were a bug, I'd have expected it to see it on one platform, but it was invisible on all devices.
