Hi, i tried to migrate my old MB with a time machine backup to another iMac which has already user running.

After a few hours there was an error telling me to try this later again. Whatever that means.

Problem is now that the SSD got filed up with about 300GB of “other data”. I see it in the about this mac storage section. Which i guess is the broken new user.

Now when i try the migration again it tells me that not enough space is available.

I could not locate the data with omnidisksweeper, carboncopycloner.
Diskutility doesnt show a problem.

Any idea?

ok i figured out myself. the files landed in a new user folder which I could delete.

the problem apparently occurred cos I migrated a backup with the same user ID and name. once I changed the already running UID, I could migrate.

to change: system preferences>users&groups>other users>advanced options. restart. I read that you should change it from a different account. If you don't have create one
