"hidden" photos and imessages - how to get access again?

Hi,

I cant see any of my photos, messages etc., but under "usage" it says my phone is 90% full of that data.

I just had some iPhone issues where it was completely full, preventing it from booting. The only options i had was restore or update to IOS10. I updated the software to IOS 10, but all of the content is now hidden to me. Can anyone help me how to restore my messages and photos?
