I am looking to add hidden text to a document that print out when someone prints the document. I am using Word 2004 for mac? I have to send a document and want to secure it, somewhat, this way.

Also, is it possible to lock only certain parts of text and not an entire document?

I dont think that you can only lock a certain sentence or anything. You could encode it so that it is impossible t read and then send the code or give the code to the recipient. He will then only need to do find and replace to replace the letters and make it readable.

Ask madjew ;)

Hidden text
Character formatting that allows you to show or hide specified text. Microsoft Word indicates hidden text by underlining it with a dotted line.
To view hidden text on the screen, click Preferences on the Word menu, click View, and then select the Hidden text check box. To print hidden text, click Preferences on the Word menu, click Print, and then select the Hidden text check box.
Not sure that you can protect part of a document, unless its a form field or a comment.

Anything that you send in any format can be copied. The only thing you can do is attempt to make it hard for the other party.

If the idea is to simple keep people from editing the document, then pdf is usually good enough. It's easy to open and tricky to edit.
