"Hide Alerts" Not Working for MMS

It seems to be only group messages that I have between Android/iPhone. I have hide alert on, because sometimes group messages are obnoxious, but it will still push the notifications to my watch while hiding it on my iPhone X. Not sure if its a watch issue or iOS 12. Its only started happening since the iOS 12/watchOS5 update. Any fixes??
