"hide" and "hide others" not working?

Hi,
I've been noticing lately that the "hide others" option in finder doesn't seem to be working at all. Not really sure how longs I've been having this issue but I guess that since upgrading to Mavericks.

Am I the only one? I'm trying to troubleshoot and figure out if it's just me...

We may have something similar going on although I've never had a problem with that command. Sometimes two Finder keyboard shortcuts won't work for me. A restart will always fix them.

Command-E might not eject drives or partitions from the desktop and Control-F16, a shortcut I edited from the default to 'Move focus to status menus' can be dead.

I've never done a clean install upgrading to Mavericks from Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard from Tiger.
