Hide iPhone from AT&T

I want to get an iPhone, preferably a 3GS or 4, and not be charged for a data plan. I new to the scene but I have but looking around for this and haven't found much.

Is there a jailbreak app or a hack I can do to hide an iPhone from AT&T so they don't know it's an iPhone? That way they won't charge me for data.

You must have the data plan ... AT&T will detect the IMEI and add one to you account.

Only way not to have an iphone data plan on your iphone with AT&T is to use prepaid AT&T service.
If you try to use it on a monthly post paid account they will add it automaticly since its mandatory.
Theres no hack or trick to avoid that, once you insert your sim and turn on the phone AT&T knows right away what device you're using to acess their network.
