Hide notification badges?

I seem to remember being able to hide notification badges for any app on my iPhone 4S, but in iOS6 I can't seem to find a way to do it for some apps. Not all apps show up in the list of apps in Settings/Notifications. For example, Jetpack Joyride ... it has a badge but doesn't appear in the list of apps.

Any idea how to kill the app badge for apps like this?
 
Settings/Notifications/<application>/Badge App Icon

If an application doesn't show up in the list, it hasn't tried to activate notifications yet.

That's odd, because I'm looking at a badge on the icon but it doesn't show up in that list ... ??

Unfortunately this isn't the only app with this behavior, it's just the only one I mentioned by name because it's the most popular. I really hope Apple fixes it on their end, because I don't want to have to email every developer individually and wait for them to fix it ... :(

What does suck is that I have decided to stay in iOS5 for now but I have badges against the App Store icon telling me that there are updates to Apple Apps, i.e. iMovie, that will only run on iOS6. Not very intelligent on Apples behalf to indicate that there are updates that won't work if you install them. School boy mistake that won't be fixed. Trying to annoy me into upgrading...

Of course if you jailbreak you can hide those badges ... ;)
