Hide Quicktime controls when scrolling?

In Quicktime player before 10.10.3, the play pause controls could be hidden by clicking once. That stayed hidden even if you scrolled through the video by sliding your fingers left or right. But after this new update, as soon as you slide your fingers to move through the video, those controls re-appear.

Does anyone know how to fix this like it used to be? Can I re-download the old version of Quicktime?
