Hiding bright lights on monitors and external HD

Hi,

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, but it has to do with my NEC monitor and Lacie external HD. They both have distracting blue lights that are always activated when these units are powered on. I'm assuming the best way to hide it is with a small piece of black tape. Anyone know of a solution or brand of tape that will not leave residue on these devices?

This annoyed the hell out of me with my external hard drive. When I left it plugged into my Mac on a night, the light used burn with the brightness of 1000 suns...

I coloured over the light with a sharpie. Solved the problem!
