I know you can turn off all drives from the desktop but like to hide one specific external drive from desktop that runs my system through external SSD.

The only thing I found before is some code to run in terminal but it didn't work.

Any way to hide just one external drive from desktop but not from finder?

Are you saying you want to keep -the boot drive- off the desktop?

Other than using the finder preferences choice (to not show all hard drives on the desktop), I'm going to guess that this can't be done...

Try a google search for OS X hide volume. There are between 5 and 15 ways to do this.
