I just moved from Panther to Leopard. In Panther it was possible to remove the "Macintosh HD" icon in the top right corner from the desktop. But I cant find such a preference anywhere in Leopard. Is it possible to remove it? I hate that ugly icon.

Go to Finder Preferences then uncheck "Hard disks" under "Show these items on the Desktop"

help me

i have done what the forum has said for my issue, im trying to either add the macintosh hd to the dock or just remove it from the desktop .. (preferably from the desktop) i bought this black macbook and its running 10.6.2.
apple said it has a new logic board but doesnt have a sn#..

Click anywhere on your desktop to make the Finder active
Go to the Menu Bar and look under Finder -> Preferences
If you are looking under System Prefs you won't find it
