High capacity 2.5" hard drives

Hi,

About a year ago I was told that high capacity 2.5" hard drives couldn't really exist because they would fry up really quickly. (i.e. 1tb and such) Has anything changed since? Are they going to come out soon? If I recall the rep I was speaking to said wait a year.

Nope. 640GB is the highest, unless you count SSDs, and then 1TB is the highest.

However, I cannot find a place where you can purchase a 640GB 2.5 SATA drive directly.

So the best that you can do in this case is that you would purchase one of these and pop out the HD to put into your MB/MBP.

Yes, but the tacit implication is that Seagate will soon release the drive as well. I just hope that this thing isn't some Raid 0 2 x 320 GB external drive. That would be lame...

But judging from it's advertised thickness, it looks like one HD.
