High CPU usage on my user account (Activity Monitor uses 90% CPU when started)

  • I recently updated to Big Sur. Everything was smooth.
  • Then there was another update.
  • My Mail app was not finding search queries from Inboxes.
  • When opened, Activity Monitor is constantly above 80% CPU usage, having a dramatic effect on my work.
  • When I log into another user account, everything is smooth.
