I'm running a Mid 2012 MacBook Air. Over the last few days I've had the fan ramp up time and again, this is unusual unless I've been doing lots of video or occasionally scrolling ebay with 20 other tabs open.

Today, Activity Monitor showed me that energy use was wild on Mail & Safari

Closing applications and rebooting didn't help. Thought it odd that Rapportd wasn't running.

I remembered reading elsewhere on this forum that booting into Safe-Mode then rebooting normally cleared a hidden OS cache so tried that & voila
