Running Lightroom and soon the gpu is 100%. Hid the program and still, the gpu won't go down... I need to quit lrc, drops the same second. Just opening it up again it goes straight up to 40-60%, and stays there. With just a few easy adjustments it goes to 100%
Turning gpu off in lightroom makes the zoom jerky. One time it got slow, but now that im testing with lots of local brushes its responsive, even the gpu is max.
At this point, I didn't need to upgrade my 2012 with hd and 512mb graphic. 😂

Thinking its Lrc.
But after quitting the program I'm doing something that the GPU again raises to around 60%. Just having the browser open. Quitting that too. Recycling the ram as well. GPU is around 46-60%, nothing open. Is this normal behavior? Another time when i was testing, the gpu dropped down very low, i remember under 20%.

to add, i7, the glitchy 5700xt 16gb, 64gb ram

Lightroom (Classic) should not be doing this, as Lightroom normally uses hardly any GPU. Yes, turning off GPU in Lightroom makes the zoom jerky in Develop module, same as in Library module (as Library module never uses GPU anyway).
Suggest go to CPU tab in Activity Monitor and click on "% GPU" column to figure out which process is using the GPU

ah yes activity monitor. Forgot about that one. I installed istat menus, its that one so is showing the high %. Activity m shows around 1,6% and istat is now at 97%...
So hope the problem is somewhat with the istat

Same with MenuBar stats

Lightroom can use a lot of CPU (not GPU) doing background tasks like face detection. If you think this might be the problem, try pausing face detection

Maybe another driver bug. I have some evidence of GPU memory leaks. How much memory is Lightroom using?

Same here. As my day wears on, my GPU memory use just climbs and climbs until 100%. It clears itself out overnight.
