Hi,
I have a 2012-2013 Macbook pro 15" running Mavericks, and when I'm placing a 2nd hdd (regular sata drive, 1tb) just for storage instead of the optical drive, after 5-10 minutes the kernel_task process jumps to 400-500% of cpu usage and everything becomes really slow.
The drive looks ok (pass the manufacturer diagnostics on a PC) and it doesn't happened when it's disconnected.
Any ideas?
On my main sata port I'm using Samsung SSD drive.
