Does anyone else have unusually high ping on the iPad? I use the speedtest.net app and usually have anywhere from 170-200+ ping on my iPad. Whereas right after that I'll get onto my computer, use the web test and have around 50ms ping. The lowest it's ever been on the iPad was 92.

Anyone else have this problem? Even though I on average get 12-18 mbps the high ping sometimes makes videos buffer.

Am I really the only one experiencing this? I just did another test. 60ms on my computer and 390ms on my iPad. Even when it reports speeds of 10mbps+ it makes even low-res youtube videos impossible to watch! No help?

Those 2 pings times sound like the typically difference between 3g and wifi. Are you by chance using a 3g ipad that is not using the wifi? Just a guess.

may sound stupid but try to restart your ipad and you router. sometimes helps with me, thou my router is really cheap and bad.

Nope. Just the Wifi.

I don't use Ping, or tweets, or myspace or ... whatever is next.

No it doesn't. Do you even understand what the Ping time has to do with? Ping is simply a measure of latency. It has nothing to do with quality of video / stutter / etc. It just means the time it takes for a message to reach a server to tell it to do something and back to you. The problem is that Online Gamers think that this matters for everything, when in fact it does not because very little (other than gaming) is done in "real time". For standard web surfing it doesn't matter because it is measured in milliseconds. For video streaming, we have buffers and that protect against stuttering even when experiencing high latency because even if you have a latency of .2 seconds (200 milliseconds), your buffer is well ahead of .2 seconds.

Most likely what you are really experiencing is a quality of signal issue between your iPad / router / internet. Something in there is dropping data and most likely it is the wifi between your iPad and Router.

Even with a good connection, 99% of utube videos are impossible to watch.

I just tested mine to see.

Looks like the ping has a difference of about 50ms.

It's interesting how much faster the download speed is on my Mac, but I'm pretty sure that's normal.
